If you are using two independent hard drives that are not connected by boot manager then the UEFI boot hard drive will always boot first before the legacy hard drive unless the bios allows you to change the boot priority. If the bios setting is legacy disabled then only UEFI devices will boot.
Both will boot up. It works fine in legacy mode. There are other known methods to do the above but this method is very simple. I have secure boot turned off. Anyone know what the problem is? I installed Grub on the second drive as well, leaving the main drive untouched.
I have tried various methods to make 'boot-repair' work, but it always fails. I am asking for help here because I think I can get everything to work if I can only install Elementary without enabling Legacy Mode.
If when the computer is new and it cannot be switched to legacy boot mode then I will be returning 4 new machines we just got. They are Z SFF units that I must be able to reimage with my own windows 7 pro system image using a 16 bit boot utility and if this cannot be accomplished then the computers are of no use to me. UEFI is not supposed to be mandated.Windows media player 12 download 64 bit
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. After many unsuccessful tries, i finally managed to install windows 7 by changing my boot sequence to Legacy Boot. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the sounds you are describing sound like there may have been a hard disk failure. The sound you described the clicking sound, is most likely the drive trying to do a forward seek and being unable to locate track 0.
This is uncommon with a machine so new but not impossilble. My suggestion is to take the unit to your closest authorized repair facility and ask them to remove the drive and plug it into an existing computer to see if they can recover your data easily. Otherwise it is most likely that the data has been lost. If it is on the other hand a controller failure inside the computer then the chances are good you will be able to recover the data.

Level Message 1 of HP Recommended. Here's a simple way to do it. In case you don't know, UEFI is low-level software that runs right before the main operating system and connects the hardware, its firmware to be specific, with the operating system.
In addition to connecting the hardware to Windows, it also validates the connected hardware and runs the bootloader to start Windows in the first place. Since the UEFI is pre-installed by the motherboard manufacturers, you don't have to deal or bother with it. It just works in the background and hands over the control to Windows once the initial process is complete. The older computers mainly used BIOS as the low-level software. For example, it cannot boot high capacity hard drives, cannot initialize multiple hardware at the same time, it only supports 1 MB of storage space for its executable, etc.
In fact, almost all the modern systems in the past few years use UEFI. Though sounds complicated, it is pretty easy to do.
Just follow the steps as is and you should be good. Before moving any further, make sure you meet all the conditions below. If you did not meet any one or all of the conditions, stop right there and make sure you meet them. Note: The conversion process cannot be undone once started. So, create a full backup of your system just to be safe. Open the start menu, search for "Command Prompt", right-click on it and select "Run as administrator" option.
In the Command Prompt window, execute the below command. If the command is successful "Conversion completed successfully" message. Once you do that, Windows 10 will boot normally.
If you see errors like "cannot be converted" or "mbr2gpt failed" then it is possible that one or more of the above-listed requirements are not met. This eliminates the tedious troubleshooting process.
Hope that helps. If you are stuck or need some help, comment below and I will try to help as much as possible.Connect with HP support faster, manage all your devices in one place, view warranty information and more— Click Here.
So if you Enable legacy support as you keep stating that you have done, then you wipe your hard disk and install an MBR system However I can boot only from USB prepared with option "gpt partition scheme for uefi".
Just keep hitting Esc when you star and select boot device option from the startup menu. Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community. Can we change Hyper V virtualization enabled in windows ORiginally the pavillion came with 7 home edition.

Yes you can do it by booting the computer to BIOS environment How to: press and hold the F10 key at the same time press the power key once and release the power key keep pressing F10 In less than a minute you will be in BIOS screen Navigate to system configuration then boot option You will have the legacy support and secure boot option which you can disable or enable as per your wish.
If your HDD has a guid partition table, the current OS will have to be installed in 'uefi' mode - the only way around this would be to reformat the drive with MBR and reinstall the OS using a boot option cdrom or flash drive that does not have a uefi suffix.
